OUR STORY

THE COMPANY

At the heart of Fallen Log Woodworks is a love of working with wood and creating wood turnings. For decades Tom has been building and turning wood products - all the while perfecting his craft.

Today, Tom finds himself surrounded with an abundance of beautiful wood turnings. Literally everywhere! So, with a little encouragement from his wife, he opens the doors to his workshop and shares his talents beyond friends and family. From the workshop in Monterey, Tennessee, our products are a way of sharing the simple joy of woodturning.

Fallen Log Woodworks is bold with our product design and crafted to ensure only the best products are supplied to customers. Each of the handcrafted pieces is hand finished and delivered wrapped in cloth bag.

It’s our genuine pleasure to share this craftsmanship with you.

TOM BAIRD

I've been woodworking since I was a kid watching my father and grandfather working in their shops. My passion for working with wood started in 1989 as I built my first woodworking shop.  However as a craftsman, woodturning was something I knew very little about.

That was until 2016 when I spotted my grandfather’s lathe stored along the wall in my shop. I dusted off the lathe and began learning about the tools and techniques of woodturning. In time, I upgraded to a larger more modern lathe and joined a woodturning club. I've met some great people who helped and encouraged me along the way. My greatest encouragement is received from my wife and kids. My wife has a lot of patience and has puts up with the room I take up with my finished woodturning pieces and the wood chips that end up everywhere.

My professional background is in electronics repair and I've always felt my woodworking and turning has benefited from the exacting nature of this work.

I often talk with my kids about turning a project and it’s a great day when they ask if they can turn something in the shop.

I hope you'll visit my shop to see my work.
